Hans Hilgenstock

Hans has resided with his wife and four kids in Charlotte, NC, since 2004 and has becomeinstrumental in getting the German speaking community together for events. He is known for his“Welcome to Charlotte” events for Foreign Direct Investors.Hans has 37 years of logistics experience. After a total of 26 years with DHL Global Forwardingand Kuehne+Nagel, he joined Cargo Modules in 2024. As director business development, he isresponsible building up their new office in Charlotte, NC. Cargo Modules is an international air/sealogistics provider with four offices in the USA and a global network of partners.Hans is an active member of the German speaking (business) community, and is known as the“German Godfather” of the greater Charlotte region.Hans received the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance “International Corporate Citizen of theYear” award in 2016 and the “Mayor’s International Community Award” (MICA) in 2018.Hans also acts as board of the “Charlotte International Cabinet” as well as a member of theLeadership Team of the “American Council on Germany.” He was on the board of the DeutscheSchule Charlotte for more than 10 years as well as the leadership team NC chapter of the GACCSouth.After his apprenticeship program in Germany as well as a master’s in logistics from the DeutscheAussenhandel- und Verkehrsakademie (Bremen), he worked for more than 12 years in Germanybefore moving to the U.S. with his family in 2001.In his free time, Hans enjoys working in the garden and spending as much time as possible withhis family.
